Catrin and a fellow writer, Buckley (Sam Claflin), reluctantly join forces with a fading matinee idol Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy) on a movie to warm the hearts of the nation and capture the imagination of the American public.

Influenced by a local decadent (Tom Burke) and the vibrant Maragret (Aimee Lou Wood), Williams continues to search for meaning until a simple revelation gives him the purpose to create a legacy for the next generation.
