Screen legend Alan Ladd made a mark with his first leading role with Lucky Jordan, a comedic noir caper from director Frank Tuttle, co-starring Helen Walker (Nightmare Alley).
A New York gangster is unwillingly drafted into the army and deserts, but becomes patriotic when he stumbles upon foreign spies bent on stealing American military secrets.
A must-see for all Alan Ladd fans, this fast-firing script was brought to life by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Karl Tunberg (Ben-Hur), with superb cinematography from seven-time Academy Award nominee John F. Seitz (Double Indemnity, The Lost Weekend, Sunset Boulevard).

Director John Farrow helmed this wartime noir adventure, starring Alan Ladd, who donned a fedora and leather jacket and is said to be a source of inspiration for Indiana Jones.
Shortly before Pearl Harbor, American opportunist David Jones and partner Johnny Sparrow are in China to sell oil to the invading Japanese army. Cynical about the sufferings of the Chinese, Jones meets compassionate teacher Carolyn Grant while travelling cross-country to Shanghai. Sparks fly between these strong-willed characters, neither budging an inch. But when Jones witnesses a Japanese atrocity, his feelings toward his customers (and Carolyn) begin to change…
Also starring Oscar-winner Loretta Young and with a score from Oscar-winning composer Victor Young, the film was a hit on release and features a supporting cast including Sen Yung, Philip Ahn, and Richard Loo.

Director George Waggner (The Wolf Man) made his noir mark with Tangier, an exotic, thrilling mystery starring Maria Montez, Robert Paige, and Sabu.
Disgraced American war correspondent Paul Kenyon, café dancer Rita, and local entrepreneur Pepe join forces to battle a Nazi diamond smuggler.
Often described as a riff on Casablanca, Tangier is filled with murder, revenge, and twists that will keep you guessing until the very end.
