Josh Waitzkin is a typical seven-year-old who happens to be a chess prodigy. His father, a sportswriter, is determined to see his son become a champion. Searching for Bobby Fischer is about their heartwarming journey of discovery, as a father and son learn the one thing neither can afford to lose: their love for each other.

This biographical drama was based on the life of prodigy chess player Joshua Waitzkin, and the book of the same name by his father Fred Waitzkin.

With an all-star cast including Joe Mantegna, Laurence Fishburne, Joan Allen, Max Pomeranc, Ben Kingsley and William H. Macy, and directed by the Academy Award-winning writer of Schindler's List, Moneyball and The Irishman – Steven Zaillian.
